The end of one era and the beginning of another is coming very soon. Spicknall’s Motor Service, owned by Dencia Spicknall, is changing hands and the name to J H Auto, owned by Kurt and Gisele Jefferson. “I am very grateful for my experiences. I have grown up in this business/building for 32 years, some have been more difficult than others, but I wouldn’t trade the experience for anything,” Spicknall said. The Jefferson’s will take the reins in the first part of December. J H Auto will then become the name and sometime in the future, the sign outside will be changed. Both parties involved have been working toward this goal for a while, and things have just now fallen into place. “With the way things have been working out so well, it gives me faith that this is the right choice for everyone involved, business owners and customers,” Spicknall said. “Kurt and Gisele had the same feeling.” Kurt and Gisele are planning on expanding the store and merchandise they carry, with some advice from CarQuest on how to get that done. Another exciting bit of news is the garage will be up and running to offer full service and repairs on cars,
pickups and SUVs. Andy Rogers has been hired and has years of experience working on a wide variety of makes and models, domestic and some foreign. Rogers has multiple ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certifications. Kurt and Gisele’s son, Jared, will also be helping some of the time. “I am excited and happy that this is happening. Yes, certain parts of the last six years have been difficult, but I never wanted to roll over and give up. Akron needs the business, and I know the Jefferson’s are going to do a good job. There is a family in here again, which makes me smile, because that is how it got built in the first place, back in the day of Joe, Erb and Donne. I know my customers will get the same honesty and service they expected with us. I know my dad is proud of what is happening here,” Spicknall said. “We are not going to change too much, except to expand the inventory and open the shop. This gives our kids an opportunity to work in a business in addition to farming. We are looking forward to this change for all of us and excited to be doing business with and providing business for Akron!
” Kurt and Gisele finished.
