MYHRE, Kenneth Clarence was born to Clarence and Alice Myhre on March 12th, 1942 on a farm near Lac Vert, SK. He was the oldest of two children, with a younger brother, Keith Raymond, born in 1946. Ken attended Service School. After Grade 8 he worked out for several years before returning to Pleasantdale where he became a mechanic for Don Shields at the garage. This is where he settled down and married Doreen Nelson in 1969. In 1972 Shelly Doreen was born. Shortly after Ken became a widower. In 1973 he purchased the garage from Don Shields. On July 23rd, 1975 he married Louise Bye and they had 4 children: Sharon Marie in 1977, Sharri Lee in 1981, Shirley Louise in 1983 and Shawn Kenneth (stillborn) in 1985. They made their life together in Pleasantdale where they owned and operated the garage for 23 years. In 1996 Ken sold the business and then worked seasonal jobs for the former UGG company and later Agricore United. Ken struggled with his health and in 2006 he retired. Throughout his life Ken was involved in municipal government beginning with the Pleasantdale Board of Trade. He was also on council for many terms in Pleasantdale, including his current term as mayor of the Village. Ken enjoyed the outdoors, including camping and quadding with his family, skidooing with his brother and his friends, playing cards, watching western movies and fixing anything mechanical. He also enjoyed his yearly hunting trips with his brother, nephews and close friends. Ken valued his family and spending time with them was important. Ken was a hard working man but he always made time for weekend outings and events with his family and he especially enjoyed his trip out east in 2007 to see his daughter Sharon and her family in the Maritimes. Ken was a quiet, kind man who accepted whatever came his way and was always willing to lend a hand to whoever needed it. He was very patient and loved living in the community of Pleasantdale and being involved with the United Church.
